The History of Summerside Fundamental Baptist Church

Our Church began meeting in December of 1969 with some Charter members.

In November, 1974, by act of incorporation, we officially became the Fundamental Baptist Church of Summerside, comprised of 21 members and pastored by our first pastor, Rev. Earle Smith.

Subsequent pastors were Rev. Ronald Penoyer, Rev. Robert Smith, Rev. Gene Corbett and Rev. Ian Kurylyk, who is our present pastor.

We moved to our current location at 200 MacEwen Road in May of 1979.  The Dedication Service for the building was held on May 20, 1979.  The special speaker was Rev. Douglas Fraser, who was the first Independent, Baptist Pastor to serve on PEI.  That first building was unfortunately lost to a fire in July of 1991.  We were, however, able to rebuild, the result being our present church building.  The Church's first meeting there was held in December of 1991 and the Lord has continued to bless and add to His Church as He has seen fit - praise and glory be to His Name!
